The refresh concluded that Newport continues to offer enormous potential with its legacy of attractive architecture and heritage and with much already achieved towards reconnecting the city with its historical roots and to the River. Known as a place with strong and independent cultural and retail scenes, the city has strong foundations on which to build and develop its unique offer.
The global economic conditions remain challenging and continue to promote more cautious investment behaviour by UK property developers and lenders. Yet, Newport still has some excellent development opportunities in prominent locations within the city centre which can be brought forward during the timescales of this refreshed plan. Newport Unlimited and its partners will continue to work to implement a broad portfolio of projects to help create the conditions that will attract private sector investment in to the city where businesses can grow and thrive.
