New BREEAM Excellent City Campus - opened in January 2011.

In a prime position on the bank of the River Usk in the heart of the city, the University of Wales, Newport’s new City Campus opened to receive over 2,000 students in January 2011.

A new home for the University’s Business School and School of Art, Media and Design, this landmark new building is destined to become a magnet for cultural activity along the riverfront as well as a centre for enterprise.

Conceived from the outset to be an open and inviting building, and built to BREEAM excellent, this ethos is integrated into the fabric of the building with features like exhibition spaces, an events area and a coffee shop that are all open to the public as well as students.

The new building, along with the nearby Riverfront Theatre and Arts Centre are part of a major rejuvenation of Newport’s riverfront.  With its futuristic design and high-tech features, this striking new building is the perfect embodiment of Newport’s commitment and aspirations for its future.
