Market Square
A new public space will be created between the Market Hall and the River Usk and provide a new northern gateway into the City Centre.
The reconfiguration of the Old Green interchange will transform the surrounding area into a more pedestrian-friendly environment, strengthening the views and access to two important City Centre landmarks, the Castle and the Market Hall.
A proposal to remove the slip road immediately in front of the Market Hall would improve the environment and release valuable land for new civic space and future development opportunities.
Later phases could include improvement for pedestrian facilities and the replacement of the elevated roundabout with a light controlled junction.
