Old Town Dock
Old Town Dock is an 18 hectare (45 acres) area of derelict land that stretches from George Street in the north to the Southern Distributor Bridge in the south. It is characterised by large tracts of former industrial land along the riverside, a variety of existing industrial uses adjacent to Usk Way and residential communities closely related to Commercial Road.
The Old Town Dock itself, built in 1830 and buried in 1930, was partially excavated in 2006 and the original eastern dock wall will be used in the creation of a water basin around which the new residential are will be formed.

Vision:Old Town Dock will be transformed by a £200 million redevelopment that will provide 1,500 homes, a business district, hotel, local shops, restaurants, bars and cafes, all set within a high quality environment with water features and a new riverside park, creating a new gateway into the City Centre from the south. The new Southern Distributor Road (SDR) and bridge along with improvements to Uskway will provide a significant new level of connectivity in South Newport.
