West Newport - Introduction
Significant office development has already taken place around junction 28 of the M4 motorway. And this is to be taken a stage further with the creation of new investment opportunities for office and light industrial uses in the area, particularly on the 50 hectare (125 acres) of land adjacent to the LG/Hynix site.
A masterplan has been prepared setting out the constraints and opportunities for development in this area.
Regeneration plans for this area received a series of major boosts in 2005, when it was announced that almost 2,000 jobs would come to the city thanks to the relocation and consolidation of major organisations including the Government’s Office of National Statistics, HM Prison Services Shared Service Centre and HQ for Human Resources and Finance, the Quinn Group and Wales and West Utilities.
